Grief manifests itself in different ways, and every person feels sorrow differently. When you lose someone close to you, you may find it very difficult to handle all the emotions and deal with the memories flowing into your head. We at Cremation Care Centre have seen that clients sometimes become stressed when dealing with a death in the family.

Stress that a person feels when they lose someone very close to them can be tough to manage. When you try to suppress your emotions, the pressure can translate into physical symptoms. Most people do not realize that some physical issues they face are directly related to their grief.

Common Physical Symptoms Of Grief

Some common physical symptoms of grief and sorrow include:

  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headaches
  • Aches and pains
  • Inability to focus
  • Tightness in the chest
  • Forgetfulness
  • Appetite changes
  • Digestive issues
  • Getting sick more often
  • Other

Dealing With These Symptoms

When trying to deal with all these symptoms, you need to see what works for you. If you are experiencing symptoms of stress such as excessive fatigue, lack of focus, or constant headaches, set aside some time from your day for yourself. You can either relax and not do anything at all or read a book, meditate, etc.

If you suffer from aches and pains, you can get some prescription medication from your doctor or take over-the-counter mild painkillers. Sleep is another crucial aspect, and if you do not get enough of it and are constantly grieving the loss of a loved one, it can affect your health. You need to keep up your strength during this difficult time, making it necessary to eat well and get sufficient rest.
