The Cremation Care Centre staff understands that no amount of forewarning can alleviate the pain of losing a loved one. However, money can be set aside in advance to cover these costs. The costs of planning and holding a funeral are high. Let's do some rough calculations to see how much a funeral might cost. In today's economy, how much does a funeral cost on average? And how do you intend to cover the costs?

The final cost of a funeral or cremation can vary greatly depending on where it is held. The prices of housing, transportation, food, and entertainment can all vary greatly depending on where you live.

The Average Funeral Cost In Canada

Cost estimates for a funeral typically include the following items:

  • Cost of cremation - This refers to the actual cremation procedure, which is typically carried out by a crematorium or cremation service.
  • An urn or other suitable container for ashes - When a person is cremated, their body is reduced to ashes, which are then placed in a container like this.
  • Death certificates - These are legal documents that confirm a person's passing and are often needed for various clerical and legal matters.
  • Transportation - This covers the cost of transporting the deceased person to the crematory or funeral home.
  • Memorial service- This covers the expenses associated with transporting the deceased to the crematorium or funeral home.
  • Additional services - This can include things like death announcements, obituaries, and memorial markers.

Cremation Funeral Costs In Canada

The average funeral cost in Canada with visitation is $6,721 and includes the following:

  • The deceased may be removed from the care of the family at any time of day or night, regardless of where they are: at home, in a hospital, or in a care facility.
  • Preparations before a visit, which can include embalming and other rites
  • Cremation urn
  • Preparing for and carrying out funeral rites
  • Funeral flower arrangement planning
  • Funds are given to a charity
  • Administration of a death notice in print or online

It's essential to remember that the most important thing is to honour and celebrate the deceased's life, which doesn't necessarily require spending a lot of money.
