Obituary of Makoto Yaguchi

Makoto passed peacefully in Toronto at 91 years of age. He leaves behind his beloved life partner of
62 years Mutsuko, daughter Mariko, son-in-law Ho, and granddaughters Emi and Mia. He is survived
by his two sisters in Japan: Naoko and Yoriko and their families.

From humble beginnings in Japan, Makoto went on to obtain his PhD in Agricultural Chemistry in
Davis California as a Fulbright scholar. He moved his young family to Ottawa, Canada to start what
would become his dream job as a researcher at The National Research Council of Canada where he
would proudly spend his entire career.

He loved homemade cakes and enjoyed some every day. Please enjoy a piece of cake in his honour.
